Like a sea creature with a skin of asphalt, a 25' ramp is supported by an inclined "fin" of steel grating. The fin and the ramp are tied with an array of cables just off ground level. A central cable running inside the length of the ramp picks up the tie cables, and forces are transferred to the ramp as a compressive load. The ramp becomes a spine with a living nerve contained within its lattice structure and protected by the asphalt hide. I could never bring myself to run up the ramp and leap over the fin.
