This seafood restaurant in Scarsdale, NY was constructed in place of two smaller stores. It was decided to enter the restaurant in the back, preserving the well-lit street side for dining. We designed a limestone and zinc bar and repeated the use of zinc in the booth seating. A nautical theme was expressed in ceiling ribs, reminiscent of boat construction, and in the design of custom porthole lights over each booth. At the entry to the restaurant a keel of mahogany is framed by a heavy bar of rolled steel. This entry divider seems like an artifact from a real ship, and adds a note of integrity to the design.
